Summer Residence Program

Available for Dancers Ages 11-24

Spend your summer with us in Philadelphia! Students will stay on Drexel University’s Campus in University City, conveniently located just a 15-minute commute from Philadelphia Ballet’s studios at the Louise Reed Center for Dance. Our dedicated resident staff maintains a staff-to-student ratio of 1:12, ensuring personalized support and supervision for all students. The residence hall is equipped with laundry facilities, lounge areas, and vending machines, and 24-hour security is available on-site, enhancing safety and convenience for all residents. Living in residence is an integral part of our program, enriching students’ experiences and contributing to a supportive, pre-professional environment.

The Philadelphia Experience

As one of America’s oldest and most historic cities, Philadelphia offers a perfect blend of cultural richness and accessibility. Drexel University’s campus in University City provides easy access to Philadelphia’s renowned museums, restaurants, shops, and attractions.

Students enrolled in the Summer Residence Program receive weekly SEPTA subway passes, allowing safe, convenient travel throughout the city. During designated free time, residents are encouraged to explore Philadelphia’s rich arts and cultural landscape.

Celebrate Philadelphia 250!
This summer, Philadelphia takes center stage as the nation celebrates America’s 250th anniversary. Students will have the unique opportunity to experience the city at its most dynamic—immersed in a season filled with special events, performances, and celebrations honoring this milestone moment in U.S. history.

Summer Dining

The Summer Residence Program includes nutritious meals designed to fuel dancers’ busy schedules.

  • Lunch (Monday–Saturday): Catered meals delivered daily to the studios, with weekly menu selections.
  • Dinner (Monday–Sunday): Hot, well-balanced meals served on campus each evening.

Dining highlights include:

  • Fresh salads served daily
  • Menus featuring whole grains, fresh vegetables, lean meats, and seafood
  • Vegetarian, Vegan, & Gluten-Free options available
  • Locally sourced produce, bakery items, and dairy products

Evening and Weekend Activities

After dinner, students enjoy structured free time within program guidelines. Curfew and visitor policies ensure safety while allowing for relaxation and social connection.

Weekend excursions provide opportunities for recreation and friendship outside the studios. Past outings have included:

  • A Broadway show in New York City, including a cast-led dance class
  • Beach day at Ocean City Beach & Boardwalk
  • A Phillies game at Citizens Bank Park
  • Dinner cruise along Philadelphia’s scenic rivers
