STUDENT AND PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
Dancers interested in auditioning for School of Philadelphia Ballet’s Student and Professional Programs are encouraged to join us for an in-person Audition Placement Class. Group auditions are also held in June and August each season. Dancers who are unable to attend an Audition Placement Class are welcome to submit a video audition. An audition fee of $50.00 will be billed upon registration.
Video Audition Guidelines:
Video auditions should be a maximum of 15 minutes in length. Applicants should begin their video with a short introduction including their name, age, birthdate, and current training facility. The video audition should include the following:
Ages 7-11:
- A short barre showing plies, battement tendus, battement jetes. (both sides)
- Heel stretch to the side right and left.
- Right, left and center (straddle) splits.
- Center work including battement tendus, battement jetes, sautes in first and second position, and changements with arms in the preparatory position.
- Skips from the corner, right and left with hands on hips.
Ages 12+:
- A short barre showing plies, battment tendus, fondu, adagio, and grand battement. (one side only)
- Centerwork including an adagio, pirouettes en dehor and en dedans, petit and grand allegro.
- Female-identifying students must demonstrate pointework, including one-legged relevé on both sides, échappé, and pirouettes.
- Male-identifying students must include batterie and tours en l’air.
