Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

What do dancers typically do for breakfast?

Dancers typically purchase groceries and prepare their own breakfast in the dorms. Dancers will have access to shared kitchens to prepare meals.

How do dancers get from the dorms to the studios? Do they take the Subway?

Yes. During the first three days of the program, dancers and Resident Assistants take the subway or trolley together to and from the studios. After that period:

  • Dancers ages 17 and under may travel in groups of three or more.
  • Dancers ages 18 and older may travel in groups of two or more.

Students who prefer additional support may continue traveling with a chaperone until they feel comfortable navigating independently.

May dancers take an Uber to the studio instead of the subway?

While dancers may choose to take an Uber in groups of three or more, it is not recommended. Morning and afternoon traffic in Philadelphia can be unpredictable, and delays could result in late arrival to class.

Are roommates grouped by age? Can dancers request a roommate?

Yes. Roommates are assigned based on age and length of stay. Dancers may also submit a roommate request in advance.

Which residence hall will be used this summer?

Residence hall information will be available soon!

What type of dorm rooms are provided? How many students share each suite?

Residence hall information will be available soon!

Are there grocery stores nearby?

Yes. A grocery store is located within walking distance of the residence hall, and a Trader Joe’s is located near the studios.

Will there be outings or planned activities?

Yes! We plan several supervised weekend outings and activities, which may include a beach trip, New York City excursion, dinner cruise, Phillies game, and more. A detailed schedule will be shared in May.
