Philadelphia Ballet will perform Christopher Wheeldon’s Rush as past of the 2017 Fall For Dance Festival at New York City Center. The 14th edition of the annual festival will feature 20 acclaimed dance companies and artists from around the world from October 2 through 14, 2017.
Wheeldon’s Rush combines postmodern style with Bohuslav Martinů’s youthful score to create a fresh dance experience with traditional roots. The ballet opens with a whirlwind of dynamic movement, vibrant costumes, and a rush of excitement; followed by an elegant pas de deux which strives to mirror Martinů’s melodic patterns during the legato second movement. Rush comes to an exciting close with the same vigorous and unpredictable movement found in its opening section, creating an invigorating ballet from beginning to end.
