Ever wondered what goes into designing and creating costumes for ballet? Philadelphia Ballet tasked Jefferson University’s Fashion Design majors to create costumes for its second company to wear for their piece “Celtic Fire”. Then see these costumes on stage at the Barnes Foundation on Oct. 6th at 1 & 2 pm and panel discussion on costuming with special guest Holly Hynes at the Comcast Auditorium at 3 pm.
Holly Hynes is an award-winning costume designer and consultant with over 250 ballets to her credit including Philadelphia Ballet, where she has nine designs in the repertoire. For 21 years, Hynes served as the Director of Costumes for New York City Ballet. Specializing in the reproduction of important historical ballet works, she is a leading authority in the accurate recreation of the original designs for Balanchine and Robbins ballet costumes. She is the recipient of the 2018 Theater Development Fund/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award.
