We invite you to share in the experience of this new ballet and our milestone anniversary and join us as we begin a two-year celebration of 60 years of both Pennsylvania Ballet and Philadelphia Ballet.
On Friday, October 6, for the first time in many years, we will kick off the season with an Opening Weekend Gala Performance and Dinner. This year’s event celebrates the world premiere production of Angel Corella’s Carmen. Bizet’s iconic score will be realized by the Philadelphia Ballet Orchestra in a new arrangement that our Music Director Beatrice Jona Affron and Angel Corella have created together.
This new, full-length ballet includes authentic costumes and choreography that blends traditional Spanish dance and classical ballet. It will transport audience members to a land of bullfights, bandits, and lovers, where passion burns as bright as the sun in southern Spain.
All funds raised from the evening will support the Ballet’s work both on stage and throughout the community.
