Philadelphia Ballet II Auditions

School of Philadelphia Ballet invites dancers ages 15-20 with strong classical and contemporary ballet backgrounds to audition for Philadelphia Ballet II (PBII), the second company of Philadelphia Ballet. Led by School of Philadelphia Ballet Director Davit Karapetyan, PBII offers exceptional training and unparalleled performance opportunities from classical to contemporary repertoire. Applicants may also be considered for School of Philadelphia Ballet’s year-round programs.

ATTEND A LIVE AUDITION

Dancers ages 15-20 are invited to join us in person a live audition. Registration for each audition location is confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis; advanced registration is required.  The fee to register for a live audition is $50.00. Registration fees are payable by credit card/debit card only; cash payments are not accepted.

Audition registration fees are non-refundable. If you need to change your audition date or audition method, please contact the School Office at [email protected].

How to Register for a Live Audition:

1. Select your audition date using the links below. Audition registration is subject to capacity limits; early registration is strongly encouraged to secure your spot.
2. Complete the JackRabbit registration form. Once your submission has been received, payment will be manually processed by the School Office.
3. After payment has been processed, you will receive the Audition Information Form via email to provide important details about your dance experience.
4. In the days leading up to your audition, check your email for confirmed audition times, age group assignments, and arrival instructions. Please note that audition times are subject to change.

ATTEND THE PBII AUDITION WEEKEND

March 14-16, 2026
Location: School of Philadelphia Ballet, Philadelphia, PA

Experience an exclusive, in-depth weekend designed for aspiring members of Philadelphia Ballet II! Participants will take classes with School of Philadelphia Ballet artistic leadership, gain insights through a Q&A with current and former Philadelphia Ballet II dancers, enjoy a guided tour of the School’s Residence Program, and receive a discount on tickets to Philadelphia Ballet’s production of The Merry Widow on Saturday, March 14th. The fee to register for the Audition Weekend is $200.00 and includes registration for the PBII Audition on Sunday, March 15.

Friday:
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Ballet Technique with Philadelphia Ballet Artistic Leadership
12:15 PM – 1:15 PM: Pas de Deux / Repertoire Class with School of Philadelphia Ballet faculty
2:00 PM: Meet our Residence Program staff and take a tour of our facilities

Saturday:
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Ballet Technique with Davit Karapetyan, School Director, Philadelphia Ballet
12:15 PM – 1:15 PM: Contemporary with School of Philadelphia Ballet faculty
5:30 PM: Attend Philadelphia Ballet’s production of The Merry Widow at the Academy of Music

Sunday:

APPLY BY VIDEO

Dancers who are unable to attend a live audition are invited to audition for Philadelphia Ballet II by video. Video auditions are accepted on a rolling basis until the closing date. Applicants who audition by video will be required to attend an in-person class before acceptance into the program. The fee to register for a video audition is $50.

Video Audition Guidelines:
Video auditions should be a maximum of 15 minutes in length. Applicants should begin their video with a short introduction including their name, age, birthdate, and current training facility. The video audition should include the following:

• A short barre showing plies, tendus, fondu, adagio, and grand battement. (one side only)
• Female-identifying students must demonstrate center on pointe, including adagio, one-legged relevé on both sides, traveling combination with pirouettes en dehor and en dedans (right and left), petite allegro, grand allegro and fouettés.
• Male-identifying students center work must include adagio, traveling combination with pirouettes end de dehor and en dedans (right and left), petite allegro, grand allegro, tours en l’air’s and a la second turns.
• Optional videos:**
  • One (1) contemporary solo, no more than 2 minutes in length
  • One (1) classical solo
• Optional: A pas de deux and/or partner work.

**Videos taken in a studio are preferred.

How to Register for a Video Audition:

1. Complete the JackRabbit registration form linked below. Once your submission has been received, payment will be manually processed by the School Office.
2. After payment has been processed, you will receive the Audition Information Form via email to submit your audition video and provide additional details about your dance experience.
3. Video audition submissions are due on March 15, 2026. Dancers may be invited to attend an in-person class for further consideration.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

I registered for a live audition but can no longer attend. Can I submit an audition video for consideration?
Yes. To change your audition method, please contact the School Office at [email protected]. Please note that audition fees are non-refundable.

When will I be notified after my audition?
Acceptance into Philadelphia Ballet II is highly competitive and subject to open positions on the Philadelphia Ballet II roster. Invitations to join Philadelphia Ballet II and acceptances to the School’s year-round programs will be sent via email on a rolling basis within the weeks following the audition. All auditions close on March 15, 2026. Dancers will receive notification no later than June 1^st.

Do you accept applications from international dancers?
Dancers must be authorized to work in the U.S. to participate in the program. School of Philadelphia Ballet is unable to sponsor visas at this time.
