Meet Austin
Hometown: Philadelphia, PA
Austin Eyler spent his early years training with world-renowned teachers John White and Margarita De Saa’. As well, he attended several summer intensive programs on full scholarship, including American Ballet Theatre, the Sarasota Cuban Ballet School, and Campaneria Ballet School in Cary, North Carolina, where, under the direction of Miguel Campaneria, Austin competed in multiple international ballet competitions. Most recently, he received a bronze medal for highest scoring pas de deux for Le Corsaire at the 2016 World Ballet Competition. Also in 2016, Austin earned 2nd place at the Youth American Grand Prix YAGP (Tampa) in the senior men’s classical, 3rd place at YAGP (Tampa) in the small ensemble category for Le Corsaire pas de deux, and he received job offers and multiple scholarships, including Ballet San Antonio, Ballet West, Boston Ballet, and the Kirov School.
Austin joined Philadelphia Ballet as a member of Philadelphia Ballet II for our 2016/2017 Season. He was promoted to Apprentice in 2017, to Corps de Ballet in 2018, and in early 2022 he was promoted to Demi Soloist. Austin was promoted to Soloist for the start of the 2022-23 season. Since joining the company, Austin has performed leading roles in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® (Cavalier), Angel Corella’s Don Quixote (Espada), Kenneth Macmillan’s Romeo and Juliet (Paris), Angel Corella’s Swan Lake (Siegfried and Von Rothbart) and in Angel Corella’s Giselle (Hilarion). Austin has also performed in Alexander Ekman’s Episode 31 and a world premiere by Juliano Nunes’ Connection.
