Meet Alexandra
Hometown: Boston, MA
Alexandra Heier began her training at Boston Ballet School at age six. She participated in Boston Ballet’s trainee program and attended summer programs at the School of American Ballet and Chautauqua, where she was an apprentice on full scholarship for three years and received the Artistic Director’s Award for Overall Excellence. In 2014, Alexandra attended Royal Danish Ballet’s summer program in Copenhagen as an exchange student from Boston Ballet. During her training at Boston Ballet School, she performed numerous spotlighted roles including Clara in Boston Ballet’s The Nutcracker. In Boston Ballet School’s Next Generation, she danced the lead principal role in George Balanchine’s Divertimento No. 15, as well as Demi Soloist and Corps roles in George Balanchine’s Scotch Symphony and Raymonda Variations, and Jerome Robbins’ Fanfare. With Boston Ballet II, Alexandra performed in Jorma Elo’s Overglow, Yury Yanowsky’s Conversation Pieces, and Victor Plotnikov’s Colloquial Dream. With Boston Ballet, she performed in John Neumeier’s The Third Symphony of Gustav Mahler, Mikko Nissinen’s Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, and George Balanchine’s Symphony in C and Coppelia.
Alexandra joined Philadelphia Ballet as an apprentice for the 2016/2017 Season. She was promoted to Corps de Ballet for the 2017/2018 Season, to Demi Soloist for the 2019/2020 Season, and to Soloist for the 2022/2023 Season. She has performed highlight roles including Gamzatti in La Bayadère, Myrtha in Giselle, Third Movement Principal in Symphony in C, Second Violin in Concerto Barocco, and Cupid in Don Quixote. Alexandra danced pas de deuxs in Jirí Kylián’s Petite Mort as well as Christopher Wheeldon’s DGV and Polyphonia. She performed soloist roles in Swan Lake, Divertimento No. 15, The Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Paquita, and Jewels. Alexandra has also performed in the world premieres of Alignment, This Divide, and Chicken Bone Brain, as well as the company premieres of Rush and Episode 31.
