Meet Tatiana

Tatiana Chen grew up in Chicago in a family closely connected to ballet. Her mother, a former dancer with American Ballet Theatre and a current ballet instructor, introduced her to dance at a young age. Although she began training in childhood, Chen decided to pursue ballet professionally at age fourteen after attending a performance of Romeo and Juliet during a summer program with ABT. The experience inspired her ambition to one day perform the role of Juliet with her dream company.

Chen trained extensively at A&A Ballet in Chicago under the direction of Alexei Kremnev and Anna Reznik throughout her high school years. During this time, she performed a wide range of classical repertoire and competed multiple times at the Youth America Grand Prix, where she was invited to participate in the finals on several occasions. Her training also led to her selection for the prestigious Prix de Lausanne in 2025.

Following this achievement, Chen attended the audition weekend for Philadelphia Ballet and was awarded a scholarship to both its trainee and summer programs. During the summer, she performed works by Davit Karapetyan and Angel Corella, after which she accepted a position in the company’s trainee program.

Chen describes her time in the trainee program as an exceptionally supportive and enriching experience. After an outreach performance featuring the Grand Pas Classique Pas de Deux and Don’t Think Twice by Gabrielle Lamb, she was promoted to Philadelphia Ballet II for the 2026/27 season.
