Student Program

at School of Philadelphia Ballet
The Louise Reed Center for Dance
323 N Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19107
Ages 8+
Audition Required

At School of Philadelphia Ballet, we believe in nurturing not just dancers, but well-rounded individuals equipped with the tools for success on and off the stage. Students develop not only their physical abilities but also their artistic sensibilities through a curriculum that refines classical ballet training, fostering a lifelong love for ballet’s beauty and expression. In the Student Program, dancers undergo a transformative journey of disciplined training, refined etiquette, and enriched classical ballet vocabulary. Our structured classes emphasize the importance of technique and expression. School of Philadelphia Ballet instructors guide students with a keen focus on developing finer motor skills and enhancing turn-out, imparting not only the “how” but also the “why” behind each technique taught at their level.

Audition for the Student Program

Dancers interested in enrolling in our Student Program must be considered by audition. School of Philadelphia Ballet holds annual auditions for our school year programs, and video auditions are accepted on a rolling basis. Learn more and register for an audition at the link below.

UPCOMING AUDITIONS

Open 7

The Open 7 level is designed for students who are unable to commit to the full training schedule. Open 7 students are required to enroll in a minimum of three (3) ballet technique classes and one (1) pointe class per week. Students may add additional Level 7 classes at a per-class rate. Monthly installments are determined based on class selection. Students must attend the dates/times registered; classes cannot be substituted throughout the week. Any schedule adjustments made throughout the year must be reviewed and approved by School administration. Participation in performance opportunities is not guaranteed for Open Level students.

Spring Showcase Participation

In the spring, dancers in the Student Program perform in School of Philadelphia Ballet’s annual Spring Showcase. Participation is a required and integral part of their training, allowing dancers to develop and apply their technique and artistry to the stage. For students enrolled in the Open Level Program, performance opportunities are considered on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on class placement and readiness. The Spring Showcase participation fee includes additional rehearsal time, performance costumes, and a Spring Showcase commemorative T-shirt.
