Laura Bowman Goldstein

Laura Bowman Goldstein joined Philadelphia Ballet, formerly Pennsylvania Ballet, in 2001. She had the honor of working closely with both Roy Kaiser and Angel Corella as artistic directors. Known for her versatility, precision and speed, Laura performed featured roles in both classical and contemporary works; including those by notable choreographers George Balanchine, William Forsythe, Jerome Robbins, Jiri Kylian, Angel Corella, Christopher Wheeldon, Paul Taylor, and Matthew Neenan. In addition to her work with Philadelphia Ballet, she performed with Carolina Ballet and BalletX, and in 2010, was cast in the Academy Award-nominated film Black Swan. She has performed at the International Ballet Festival of Miami, the Edinburgh Festival, Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival, and the Vail International Dance Festival.

Laura fell in love with education and teaching early in her career, and has shared her knowledge, experiences and passion for dance for over two decades. She was selected as an inaugural instructor with School of Pennsylvania Ballet, now School of Philadelphia Ballet, when the School reopened in 2012; becoming an integral instructor in the Professional Day Program.

Upon joining Philadelphia Ballet as Rehearsal Director in 2024, Laura said, “I look forward to crafting meaningful performances for both the dancers and our audiences. Being in the studio is in my blood; it’s my happy place. Whether I’m teaching class, setting choreography, or coaching fine details leading up to a performance, I feel at home there. Each day presents a new challenge and opportunity to evolve.”
