Inspired by a visit to famed jewelers Van Cleef and Arpels, the three movements celebrate three facets of Balanchine’s life—the romantic French flair and elegance of Emeralds, the jazzy American allure of Rubies, and the pure Russian pomp and splendor of Diamonds.
