Intense study is a necessary addition to a young dancer’s trajectory in the pursuit of serious classical dance training. This program runs in one-week increments for a span of four weeks. Students will register in week-long increments, and subsequent weeks can be added at no additional registration fee.*

*Subject to capacity. Registration for each week will close on May 15, 2024, or when capacity is reached.

At School of Philadelphia Ballet’s Summer Intensive New Jersey (SINJ), dancers ages 7-11 will help establish the essential elements of a classical ballet foundation, with a focus on strengthening technique and the introduction and expansion of increasing dance vocabulary. Dancers ages 7-11 will receive approximately 12-16 hours of instruction per week, taking classes in body conditioning, ballet technique, and jazz (and/or other developmentally appropriate movement styles). Pointe, if applicable, will be added and/or introduced to specific students during the SINJ 2024.

For students ages 12-21, School of Philadelphia Ballet New Jersey’s summer training experience is designed to provide dedicated dancers with the opportunity to enhance their skills, deepen their understanding of ballet technique, and refine their artistic expression. Dancers ages 12-21 will receive approximately 22-26 hours of instruction per week. Key features of the Summer Intensive New Jersey (SINJ) Program:

• Daily ballet classes focusing on technique, alignment, and strength.
• Pointe work for female-identifying students.
• Variation classes to explore and practice works from classical ballet repertoire.
• Contemporary/modern classes.
• Flamenco classes.
• Conditioning and flexibility classes to enhance overall physical fitness.
• Studio demonstrations to showcase progress made throughout the program.

Program Schedule:
Age 7-11: Monday-Friday; 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Age 12-21: Monday-Friday; 9:00 AM – 3:15 PM
