Meet Giovanna
Hometown: São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo
Giovanna Assis Genovez started dancing when she was 3 years old in a small ballet academy in the city of Petrolina. When she was 8 years old, her teacher introduced The Royal Academy of Dance methodology to her school and she studied this methodology for 2 years.
In 2011 at the age of 11, Giovanna participated in the Ballace Dance Competition and was nominated for other competitions such as: Passos de Arte in Indaiatuba-SP and The National YAGP selective in Santos-SP.
In 2015, Giovanna joined the Bolshoi Theater School in Brazil and graduated in 2019. During her time at the Bolshoi Theater School she participated in several presentations and trips to various Brazilian cities. Her first experience as a professional dancer was at Youth Company Bolshoi Brazil during their 2020/2021 Season where she had a rich experience training with many esteemed choreographers. Giovanna joined Philadelphia Ballet as an Apprentice for our 2022/2023 Season.
